Counselor Services
Referrals to other sources: A counselor will help you with contact information for other agencies regarding medical and mental health issues, and much more!
Internships/Work Experience: Earn one credit for every 20 hours of volunteer time spent working at a local business or organization. 
Work Permits: You may pick up an application for a work prermit in the office.

     Mr. Whitehead's office is located in the Administration Office at the main campus.  He is available M-F. 
     Also, CCS has a new counselor as of Spring Semester, 2011--Mr. Bruce Nguyen.  Mr. Nguyen is located in room B-6 and is here three days a week,     T-Th. 
     Mr. Whitehead and Mr. Nguyen are here to assist our students in a variety of academic procedures and services.  See the following list to find a service you may need.  If you do not find what you are looking for on the list, ask your teacher, or call one of the counselors for help.

Counselor Services for Students and their Parents

Graduation Requirements: This meeting provides students and their families with information about requirements for graduation.
Graduation Planning: During this meeting, students and their families receive an academic plan, which will project a reasonable graduation date for the student. 
ROP Carer and technical Preparation: Intended for 11th and 12th graders interested in earning up to 15 elective credits a semester.  ROP classes are offered at SCUSD high schools and are open to students 16 years or older.
Junior College Course Work: Students with a 2.7 GPA who have completed the 10th grade, or are at least 16 yers of age by the first day of instruction, may concurrently enroll at a comunity college.  Student earn both college and high school credits, and the cost of tuition is free.  Ask a counselor for assistance in registering and choosing classes.
Athletics: CCS students may participate in team sports at their school of residence while earning P. E. or elective credits at Capital City.
College Informational Meetings: In this meeting, you will receive information about how to apply for college, college entrance requirements, college entrance tests, financial aid, and programs offered at various colleges. Bring all of your questions about college to this meeting, and we will work together to bring you up-to-date with the necessary information.
